Once you have purchased your licenses, you will receive an email from DCIM Assets with the passcodes.
Go to https://dcimassets.schneider-electric.com and log in.
If you're new to the portal, click Add Group to create a group/folder to contain the assets you want to register. You can move them later if needed.
If you have already created groups, click to select an existing group to place the new assets you want to register.
Registering an asset
To redeem a passcode, you must register the assets that the passcode entitlements will be redeemed against.
This is particularly important for Data Center Expert (DCE) servers because the license key that is generated from the passcode is tied to the MAC address of the DCE server:
If the DCE server is a virtual machine, the virtual machine must already be created before the passcode can be redeemed.
If the DCE server is a physical appliance, the MAC address must be retrieved from the server itself.
Click Register Asset and select the option that best matches the new DCE or DCO/ITA device you want to register.
The top three options, AP9465, AP9470, and AP9475, are for physical DCE appliances.
AP94VMTRL is for DCE servers running on a virtual machine.
The option for Data Center Operation (DCO) is at the bottom of the list. You also use this DCO option to register IT Advisor servers.
This example uses the DCE Virtual Machine trial option, AP94VMTRL. Note that the Register Asset page layout changes to include appropriate additional fields. Click Apply and then OK.
Label
The name of the asset as it will appear in the DCIM Assets system. You can enter your DCE server hostname, or a description of the server that might include its location or purpose so you can easily identify the asset it represents.
MAC address
For DCE servers, you must enter the DCE server’s exact MAC address. The value is not case sensitive. The license key that is generated is based on the MAC address and will only work on a DCE server with a matching entry.
If the MAC address is entered incorrectly, the new license will not be validated, and a new passcode will be required.
Serial number
The serial number of the DCE server.
For information about how to locate the MAC address and serial number of your DCE appliance or VM, see https://www.apc.com/us/en/faqs/FA335690/
Redeeming the passcode for a license
You must redeem a passcode for each registered asset.
Once you redeem the passcode for an asset, the entitlement for that passcode is bound to that asset, serial number, and MAC address.
To redeem a passcode:
-
Log in to DCIM Assets.
-
Navigate to the registered asset where the passcode will be redeemed.
-
Click the menu icon and then Redeem Passcode.
-
Enter the passcode you received in your email. Click Next to see a verification of your passcode entitlement, and then click Apply to complete the redemption.
-
You’ll get a confirmation email with the passcode, MAC address, and serial number for the device, and the license key. Click Component Details to view the license key.
-
Copy the license key. You will enter the license key in the DCE desktop client in the System > Server Administration Settings > License keys option. The license key can only be used on the DCE server that matches the MAC address associated with it.
IMPORTANT: If the license key uses more than one line, it will contain a space when you copy it. Paste the license key into a text editor, and remove any spaces if necessary.
-
Click
to close the window.
Repeat this process to redeem additional passcodes if needed.
